NewSenior Product Designer - Design Systems

They are hiring a Staff Product Designer based in their Auckland, New Zealand HQ (relocation and visa assistance provided) to lead the design of a significant area of the product experience and set design foundations across mobile and web. What you'll do
- Set, own and advance design foundations across mobile and web
- Set the standard for craft and make it usable through principles, guidance and worked examples
- Shape the technical architecture and system structure alongside engineers
- Treat the design system as a product: set its direction and prioritise what to build based on designers' and engineers' needs
- Provide teams with a clear point of view on which pattern to use and why
- Translate field conditions into system defaults (legibility, target sizes, clarity at a glance)
- Identify what works across product surfaces and promote it into documented, reusable foundations; decide what should be a pattern versus a one-off
- Raise designers' craft through feedback, reviews, mentorship, and champion the system across product, engineering and design leadership

- 5+ years designing digital products, with significant time designing and building design systems at scale
- Exceptional visual craft and command of typography, layout, spacing, colour, accessibility, interaction and motion design
- Proven experience shipping a design system with engineers, including knowledge of tokens, component library structure in code, and maintaining the Figma-to-code connection
- A portfolio showing both foundational systems work and concrete high-craft experiences built with it
- Ability to make explicit, teachable design judgments and communicate conviction
- Track record of coaching other designers, raising quality, building alignment and defending opinionated decisions
