- Set the system's vision and direction and turn that into focused work, doing much of it yourself at first.
- Build the foundations hands-on: set the architecture, ship components, write guidance, and establish the quality bar through your own work.
- Build and lead the team that owns the system: hire and develop the function, set priorities and ownership, give direct feedback, and hold a high bar.
- Elevate Render's visual and interaction design, including typography, hierarchy, density, motion, responsive behavior, accessibility, and states beyond the happy path.
- Make the system legible to AI and humans: lead work on machine-readable documentation, expose system rules and tokens where agents can reach them (e.g. via MCP), and design an architecture that shrinks agent context while keeping brand and accessibility layers.
- Guide technical architecture with engineering across components and tokens and how agents discover guidance and check their work.
