AI skillsThis role asks for AI & agentic skills, exactly what we teach at Into Design Systems

What you'll do

  • Define component architecture and compositional philosophy across the system and lead review of component work to elevate quality and brand consistency org-wide.
  • Design token architecture (primitive → semantic → component) that scales to new themes and brand variants and remediate structural token debt.
  • Build documentation and governance infrastructure that scales independent of day-to-day involvement and use adoption data to close gaps before they surface as one-off requests.
  • Partner with engineering to build tooling and working norms that keep design and engineering roadmaps aligned.
  • Scale accessibility as a structural default across new themes and components, partnering with the Accessibility Specialist on org-level investment.
  • Own and articulate the system's roadmap, define how effectiveness is measured, and maintain a data-backed business case that influences prioritization and resourcing.

What they're looking for

  • 10+ years of experience in product design, with a substantial portion focused on design systems work.
  • Demonstrated track record defining component and token architecture for an entire system at a B2B SaaS company.
  • Experience designing, governing, and scaling an enterprise-scale design system, including component libraries, token architecture, and governance models.
  • Working knowledge of front-end implementation (HTML/CSS, Code Connect or equivalent) used to credibly influence engineering architecture decisions.
  • Track record defining and communicating a design system roadmap, along with metrics such as adoption, coverage, defect rate, or time-to-implement.
  • Experience establishing accessibility as infrastructure, including token- and component-level governance and WCAG expertise.
  • Comfort using AI to streamline workflow and meet shipping timelines.
  • Proven ability to build a data-backed business case that has changed prioritization or staffing.
