- Keep the operating backbone: manage tooling, licenses, procurement, vendors, contracts, budget, travel, and designer onboarding
- Automate repetitive tasks, plan ahead, document progress, keep teams informed, and resolve blockers early
- Build agents, automations, or tools to fix problems and ensure they are used by others
- Run enablement: access, learning tracks, office hours, champions, and showcases
- Find root causes, get people to agree on fixes, drive plans, measure changes, and scale what works
- Look for problems proactively and return with solutions already moving
- Define and measure program impact qualitatively and quantitatively
- Grow each site's ownership and rituals, maintain guild-wide rhythms, and keep alignment across sites

- People person: comfortable with operational and HR aspects and approachable so designers bring problems and wins
- Building and automation: automate your own and others' work using workflow automation platforms, AI agents, scripting or low-code tooling, prototyping with AI coding tools; ability to ship working things
- Proven adoption: have introduced a change, driven a lasting shift in how people work, measured the result, and can account for one effort that did not stick
- Influence without authority: get directors, partner teams, and designers aligned and moving without direct reports
- Root-cause diagnosis: go to people doing the work and distinguish symptom from cause
- Cross-level stakeholder alignment: turn vague senior asks into specific agreed plans and advise leaders when the named problem isn't the one to solve
- Organizational judgment: know when to follow process or find another route for procurement, vendors, contracts, security reviews, legal, HR, and budget cycles, and escalate with a recommendation
