Verkada is hiring a Lead Product Designer - Design Systems in San Mateo, CA. The role owns the source of truth for Verkada’s digital language and works between UX designers and frontend engineering teams to keep the hardware-software interface cohesive, accessible, and polished.

What you'll do

  • Define and maintain the core Figma component library, tokens, and documentation
  • Create scalable systems for responsive web, mobile, and specialized hardware interfaces or touch devices
  • Establish how new components are proposed, vetted, and integrated by the broader UX team
  • Act as a bridge between Design and Engineering to support pixel-perfect implementation and technical feasibility
  • Build and test interactive components and prototypes
  • Support cross-product experiences as needed

What they're looking for

  • 7+ years of experience in Product Design, including 4+ years dedicated to Design Systems
  • Expert-level Figma proficiency, including Auto-layout, Variables, and Prototyping
  • Deep understanding of frontend development technologies and accessibility standards including WCAG
  • Experience coordinating between Figma and Storybook or a similar tool
  • Portfolio demonstrating polished visual design and systemic thinking
  • Technical or UX writing ability, including naming components in a system context
  • Ability to speak expertly about interaction, visual, motion, writing, and other layers
