The role focuses on bridging design and development to mature Quantum's components, patterns, tokens, theming, and premium UI at scale, and participating in the design, evolution, and maintenance of the Design System. Quantum is used by more than 300 designers and 2,000 developers across the Group and is supported by a central team of 2 designers and 2 front-end developers.
What you'll do
- Design and develop design system components using a code-first approach, ensuring quality, scalability, and maintainability
- Collaborate with the Design Lead and Tech Lead on large-scale design system challenges and contribute to technical decisions and architectural choices
- Gather and understand user needs and behaviors with UX specialists and participate in interviews, workshops, and user testing to inform component development
- Contribute to and implement a complete visual review of the design system to ensure components elevate the brand and align with premium design standards
- Structure, implement, and maintain design tokens, including modelling, management, and automation for scalability and multi-theme support
- Translate design specifications and prototypes into robust, reusable code
- Contribute to documentation, formalization, and support of the design system, explaining usage to internal developers and designers

- Strong expertise in modern UI development and understanding of UI principles such as accessibility, code quality, and design rigor
- Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS (pre/post processors a plus), JavaScript/TypeScript, and experience building and maintaining component libraries in a collaborative IDE environment
