Apply on Onebrief

Onebrief builds collaboration and AI-powered workflow software for military planning and operational coordination. The company is a distributed team founded in 2019 and backed by multiple investors; some team members work remotely while others work alongside customers in operational environments. Onebrief is hiring a Senior AI Product Designer who can independently own the user experience for a product area, ramp quickly, and start shipping without heavy onboarding. The role involves partnering with Product, applying AI alongside traditional design foundations, and building deep expertise in how military planners work.

AI skillsThis role asks for AI & agentic skills, exactly what we teach at Into Design Systems

What you'll do

  • Own the UX definition for a product area: what users need, how they interact with the product, and why, partnering with Product to translate user goals into interface elements and behavior.
  • Act as the arbiter of quality vs. speed for your scope, flexing craft to fit release priorities and articulating trade-offs to move teams forward.
  • Build deep expertise in how users work by meeting with them, mapping workflows, and documenting human and organizational context for others to use.
  • Own pattern decisions for your area and contribute to Onebrief's broader design language and system.
  • Evaluate emerging AI UX patterns and apply them deliberately, knowing when a pattern fits a use case and when it does not.
  • Combine traditional design foundations and AI-native workflows to produce work across fidelities, flexing between moving fast and diving deep.
  • Document design intent through visual representation and written documentation for human collaborators and agentic tools.

What they're looking for

  • Independent track record owning end-to-end UX definition for a product area or workflow, from understanding user needs through shipped interface decisions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in foundational UX/UI concepts and practices, with concrete examples of articulating trade-offs (quality vs. speed, scope vs. fidelity) that moved a team forward.
  • Experience building deep user/workflow expertise through direct user research and workflow mapping, and documenting it for others to act on.
  • Led strategic and tactical implementation of at least one major AI-based workflow in a SaaS application.
  • Knowledge of emerging AI UX patterns and a clear process for evaluating when, where, and how to apply them.
  • Advanced user of AI design tools, with intermediate-level knowledge of how foundational models work and their trade-offs.
  • Experience contributing to or codifying design system or pattern decisions beyond a single project to scale consistency across surfaces.
  • Solid grasp of accessibility and interaction design fundamentals, with experience communicating that expertise to others.
