- Define the design team operating system: cadences, forums, rituals, and source-of-truth that keep the team aligned
- Own weekly and quarterly cadences, including leadership syncs, critiques, planning, retros, and headcount-cycle inputs
- Coordinate Brand × Marketing and Product × Product Design interlocks so design work and dependencies are surfaced with lead time
- Establish how the team tracks and shares work, creating a single source of truth for status and forums to make design legible to the org
- Design and hold decision-making forums so decisions are made, recorded, and not relitigated
- Separate ritual from overhead by keeping alignment-creating cadences and cutting ones that are just tax
- Automate repetitive coordination, reporting, and tracking with AI
- Bring Product Operations tools to design: data and analytics for reporting, structured feedback loops and early-access programmes, and launch coordination aligning design with product release cycles and go-to-market timing

- Founding design-ops mindset: experience building operational disciplines from scratch

- Strong systems thinking: design repeatable rhythms and processes, not just run meetings
- Design literacy sufficient to be credible with designers
- Make-it-happen attitude: positive, bias to action, unblocks rather than escalates

- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and define your own scope in a role with no playbook and no team to delegate to
