Design Systems Designer (Contract)
Apply on HealfHealf is hiring a short-term contract designer to build and document a componentised design system for its Wellbeing Intelligence native app. The engagement is full-time, remote and flexible, for 1-3 months starting ASAP. The role involves consolidating existing patterns across the app, building tokens and components in Figma, documenting usage and accessibility, and handing the system over to the team.

- Go through the existing app screens and pull out the patterns worth keeping
- Build the system in Figma from scratch: tokens, components, patterns
- Cover the full set of states — default, hover, focus, active, disabled, error, empty, loading
- Work with designers and developers to align the system with what's already in production: naming conventions, structure, tokens
- Write documentation per component: when to use each component and when not to, do's and don'ts, specs, and accessibility notes — contrast, focus, scaling
- Leave behind a maintenance and contribution guide and onboard the current design team to it
What they're looking for
- Real design-systems experience — a shipped system, built within a working team, in your portfolio
- Strong Figma craft: variables and tokens, components with variants and properties, auto-layout, published libraries, Dev Mode
- A good visual eye; systems thinking and taste (bar is a premium consumer health product)
- Solid documentation habits
- Comfortable working AI-assisted
- Experience building a design system for a mobile app (nice to have)
- Exporting tokens to code (Style Dictionary, Tailwind, Token Studio), and some awareness of Code Connect (nice to have)
- Storybook familiarity (nice to have)
