Glean is hiring an experienced Design Engineer for its design systems team. The role works across design and engineering teams using Figma and React to maintain the design system and frontend component library. The position focuses on components, documentation, usage guidelines, accessibility, Storybook components, and enabling others to contribute high-quality components.

What you'll do

  • Design and maintain components, documentation, and usage guidelines for Glean’s design system and component library in Figma and Storybook
  • Collaborate with product designers and software engineers to develop building blocks for high-quality, accessible user experiences
  • Evolve the design system and establish best practices to improve quality, consistency, and craft
  • Drive cross-functional enablement initiatives focused on accessibility and high-quality Storybook components
  • Prototype small interactions and ideas for projects as needed

  • 5+ years of experience working on design systems as a design technologist, UI engineer, or design systems product designer
  • Ability to design polished pixel-perfect UI components in Figma, implement them in code, and create thorough documentation
  • Expertise in React, Figma, Storybook, CSS, HTML, Javascript, Typescript, and WCAG compliance
  • Strong systems thinking skills for scalable and reusable design solutions across the Glean ecosystem
  • Strong written, verbal, and storytelling skills to educate others about the design system, demonstrate its value, and train designers and developers
  • Ability to break down problems, work within constraints, make quick decisions based on sound rationale and feedback, and iterate rapidly
  • Experience collaborating with different disciplines and incorporating feedback into work
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity, independently prioritize work based on user needs and business goals, and drive product ideas forward
