The Financial Times is hiring a Product Designer for its Design Systems team on a 12-month fixed-term contract covering maternity leave, based at Bracken House in London. The role focuses on evolving Origami, the FT’s design system, across reusable principles, patterns, foundations, components and libraries. What you'll do

  • Design and evolve reusable components, patterns, foundations and libraries within Origami
  • Contribute to design system solutions across web and mobile, including iOS, Android and web
  • Identify opportunities for reusable patterns and system improvements based on product needs and team feedback
  • Support design work from problem framing through validation, documentation and handover
  • Use research, audits and feedback to inform design decisions
  • Create documentation and specifications in Figma, Zeroheight and other system tooling
  • Document variants, edge cases and usage guidance
  • Collaborate with engineers on feasible, scalable implementation-aligned solutions
