EDEKA ZENTRALE in Hamburg is hiring a (Senior) Design System Architect for its Digital Marketing, CRM & Analytics division. The role owns the strategic development of a scalable multi-brand design system across app, website and other digital products, creating the basis for consistent user experiences and efficient product development. Acting as a technical lead and sparring partner for design, front-end development and product management, it defines the components, patterns, standards and governance behind EDEKA's digital products. What you'll do

  • Strategically build and continuously develop a scalable multi-brand design system for app, website and other digital products
  • Design and maintain components, design tokens, patterns and architecture standards to ensure consistency and reusability
  • Define and establish governance models, documentation standards and quality guidelines for sustainable use and evolution of the design system
  • Take on a technical lead function focused on close collaboration between product design, front-end development and product management
  • Ensure a consistent user experience across different brands, platforms and digital touchpoints
  • Coach and enable internal design and development teams as well as external partners in applying and evolving the design system
  • Actively promote design system adoption within the organization and help embed consistent ways of working
  • Advise stakeholders on strategic questions around scalability, design quality and digital product standards

  • Several years of professional experience strategically building and evolving complex design systems, ideally in multi-brand environments
  • Demonstrable experience developing and scaling design system architectures across different products, brands or platforms
  • Solid knowledge of component-based design and working with design tokens, pattern libraries and modern design system principles
  • Strong command of Figma, especially libraries, auto layout, variants and component architectures
  • Good technical understanding and experience collaborating with front-end development teams and modern development technologies
  • Experience defining and implementing governance models, documentation standards and scalable processes
  • Knowledge of accessibility and how to embed it sustainably within design systems
  • Very good German and English skills, written and spoken
