AIM is hiring a Senior Software Engineer with a UI focus for its Engineering department in Seattle. The role will design and build the safety-critical Operator UI, the multi-tenant portal, and the shared design system for AIM's autonomous fleet. The work involves frontend systems using TypeScript and React, 3D web graphics, real-time data, and production-ready UI for field and customer environments.

What you'll do

  • Design and build the Operator UI, multi-tenant portal, and shared design system
  • Set architectural direction for component APIs, accessibility, theming, versioning, deprecation paths, and migration tooling
  • Own the developer experience for engineers building on the design system
  • Drive patterns for high-quality, accessible UI by default
  • Architect and implement live 3D scenes with Three.js, React Three Fiber, and Drei
  • Build point clouds, terrain meshes with BVH acceleration, geofence editing, cut/fill visualization, and machine overlays
  • Design state machines, validation, and observability for safety-critical UI flows
  • Build teleop controls and integrate live video streaming

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Design, HCI, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production frontend systems
  • Deep expertise in TypeScript and React, including hooks, suspense, and concurrent rendering
  • Experience with 3D web graphics such as Three.js, React Three Fiber, Drei, WebGL, shaders, GLTF pipelines, BVH acceleration, or point-cloud rendering
  • Experience with real-time data and binary serialization such as Protocol Buffers, gRPC-web, WebSockets, or high-frequency telemetry on the web
  • Experience with modern frontend tooling such as Vite, npm workspaces or pnpm/yarn workspaces, Storybook, and modern testing stacks
  • Strong debugging skills using browser devtools, logs, telemetry, metrics, and tracing
  • Proven track record delivering high-quality software independently and as part of cross-functional teams
